Remington at the Broadmore
My second house sit was with a rottweiler mix in a guest house in the Broadmore neighborhood. I was not as comfortable with dogs then as I am now, and Remington was due to have ACL surgery when his owner returned. Remi and I got along well; he enjoyed the safety and warmth of his crate and daily walks with me each morning. He couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t let him into my bedroom, and I think I gave him a peanut butter habit as a way for him to take pain meds. The owner, a single professional woman, was a wonderful host and had Brene Brown’s newest book, Atlas, sent to me at her home while I stayed there. This was an unexpected and lovely gesture. I love having this book in my life and have often connected with Remi and his owner since that first visit. Hosts can pay on time, leave tips, buy groceries (which this host did), or give you nothing for your service. Know your worth as a house sitter and enjoy interacting with pets and hosts. There are great things that come from each “Sit.”
